These rooms need to be versatile, comfortable, and designed around the way you really live — not just how they look in a photo. At NI Construction, we renovate living spaces with that practical philosophy at the core.

One of the most popular requests we get is opening up living spaces. Many Dutch homes, particularly older ones, have separate small rooms that feel cramped and disconnected. By removing or partially opening a wall between the kitchen and living room, or between the dining and sitting area, we can create a bright, flowing open-plan space that feels dramatically larger. We handle the structural assessment, any necessary steel beam installations, and all the finishing work to make it seamless.

We also build feature elements that give living spaces real character. This includes custom fireplaces and surrounds, built-in shelving and media units, window seats, accent walls with natural stone or wood paneling, and bespoke cabinetry. For flooring, we install hardwood, engineered timber, natural stone, and high-end laminate — always properly prepared with leveling and underlay for a perfect finish.

Lighting plays a huge role in how a living space feels, and we give it the attention it deserves. We plan and install layered lighting schemes — ambient, task, and accent — that let you change the mood of the room for different occasions. Combined with fresh plastering, painting, and attention to details like skirting boards and door frames, the result is a living space that feels completely transformed.
